H.P Lovecraft, born on the 20th of August 1890 in Providence, Rhode island, was hardly known as an author during his lifetime. After his death his reputation as master of the macabre was immortalized and his work is considered a classic of horror-literature. On the 18th of August 2005 the World premiere Mountaibs of Madness was dedicated to this master by the artists Alexander Hacke (known as the bass player of the Einsturzende Neubauten), Berlin Icon Danielle de Picciotto and the legendary English group The Tiger Lillies. This humorous and darkly melancholic production combines an unusual combination of variete, opera and gypsy - music with sinister industrial sounds and clashes - the brilliant falsetto-voice of Martyn Jaques, the singin saw, the accordion as well as the upright bass are entwined by Alexander Hacke's electronic soundscapes- a new experience for the Tiger Lillies, who have never been accompanied by electronic instruments before. The beautiful illustrations of Danille de Picciotto influenced by Italian and Dutch renaissance Natura Morta still-lives and modern toy catalogues make up most of the stage-set together with the light-design by Lutz John, usually known for his expressive work with the German pop group Wir Sind Helden.

The 1957 Thruxton Nine Hours Marathon was a testing ground for powerful Triumph, Norton and Matchless motorcycles. Like other premier tracks of the era, Thruxton was built on a World War II airfield littered with bumps and potholes, increasing the danger for drivers and creating an action-packed spectacle for racegoers. The thrill of big bike racing never faces - and this timeless programme has highlights of one history's most memorable events. Two-Wheeled Trio covers three motorcycle contests from 1958. The Cotswold Cup Trial features fierce competition between riders on single-cylinder four-stroke 'thumpers' produced by Ariel, BSA and Royal Enfield. The pace changes with coverage of the Isle of Man Scooter Rally - a 24 hour marathon in which riders had to maintain a 24mph average around the TT Mountain Circuit on their small-engined machines. Vespas and Lambrettas dominated the track but rarer models made by German NSU and Maico feature too. There's also the best of the Italian Motocross Grand Prix where heavyweight MX bikes can be seen roaring around the legendary Imola circuit. Star riders of the day risk all in the three tough races that comprised the Grand Prix, including: Jeff Smith, Les Archer, Johnny Draper and Sten Lundin.

In 1748, at the height of the slave trading era, slave trader John Newton (Nick Moran) sails to the coast of Nigeria, Africa. The peaceful and joyful life in the African village is rudely interrupted by vicious slave traders. Slaves are rounded up by force and trickery. Villages are raided and burned down. The captives are kept in dungeons, chained like animals, as John Newton fills his ship. But, as he leaves the Africa coast with a shipload of slaves, a violent storm brings John Newton to the point of death and causes him to re-evaluate his life. Although he is saved by two slaves, Newton attributes his miraculous escape to the amazing grace of God. Despite John Newton's near death experience, he continues his slave trading. It takes an act of humanity from one of the slaves' he considers animals to show him the true meaning of love. He finally renounces slave trading and decides to devote his life to religion. Back home in England in 1760, John Newton used the melody of a local Nigerian anthem sung in adversity by the captured slaves to compose the world's most famous hymn, Amazing Grace, a fitting tribute to the slaves and the land that led him on the path to redemption.
